Supported Accommodation

Supported Accommodation

In May 2018 Encompass Southwest in partnership with the Pickwell Foundation opened its first 8 bed supported accommodation in Barnstaple, offering modern comfortable accommodation to those at risk of homelessness or who are rough sleeping. All our residents receive a minimum of 3 hours support per week which is based around an individual’s need. Our aim is to prepare residents for independent living by providing them with support and skills in the following areas;

  • Budgeting and income maximisation
  • Understanding a tenancy
  • Living with other people, such as a house share
  • Preparing food on a budget

Residents are encouraged to work together. This includes cooking together, attending regular house meetings and trying out new activities such as volunteering and even belly dancing!

Encompass Southwest is committed to working within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC) framework across all our housing projects. We aim to improve the psychological and emotional well-being of people accessing, or working in, our services. We place high value on how we build relationships with our clients and taking time to reflect on our work to ensure positive outcomes.

If you would like to know more about how to access our supported accommodation then please contact us via the contact page on this website or call our main office on 01271 371499.

“I loved living in the house, I always felt supported and felt like I was part of a big family. My support worker helped me to access grants for my education including a grant for driving lessons and when I was ready she supported me to move into my own flat.”
